Review status: this document is an operational draft for the developing InstructQR service. The service operator must confirm its legal identity, contact details, retention schedule, and final legal terms with a qualified adviser before broader public launch.
1. Agreement and scope
These Terms of Service apply when you create an account or use InstructQR's creator tools. Public manual viewers do not need an account, but must not misuse the website or its content.
InstructQR is currently provided free to use. The operator's final legal identity and address will be added before broader public launch.
2. Accounts and authority
Creator access currently uses Google sign-in. You must provide accurate account information, keep access to your identity provider secure, and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
You must be at least 18 and have authority to accept these terms for yourself or the organisation you represent. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account and for managing access granted to team members.
3. The InstructQR service
InstructQR provides tools for creating, hosting, publishing, and distributing digital instructions, including through URLs and QR codes. Features and usage limits may change as the service develops.
InstructQR provides publishing infrastructure, not engineering, installation, safety, regulatory, or legal advice. The service does not inspect or certify the products or instructions published through it.
4. Creator content and permissions
You retain ownership of content you submit, including manuals, text, images, product information, branding, and files. You grant InstructQR a non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process, adapt for display, transmit, back up, and publish that content only as needed to provide, secure, and support the service.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit the content and instruct us to process it. You must respect copyright, trade mark, privacy, confidentiality, and other third-party rights.
A manual marked public may be accessed and shared by anyone with its URL or QR code. You are responsible for selecting an appropriate publication and access setting.
5. Your responsibility for instructions
The creator has sole control over and responsibility for each manual, including its accuracy, completeness, sequence, translations, illustrations, warnings, maintenance intervals, and suitability for the intended product and audience.
You are responsible for:
- identifying hazards and providing clear, timely safety warnings;
- complying with product, consumer, accessibility, installation, workplace, and other laws or standards that apply to you;
- obtaining appropriate technical, safety, and legal review before publication;
- testing instructions with representative users and keeping them accurate when a product or procedure changes; and
- providing suitable alternatives where users cannot access a digital manual.
InstructQR does not approve, verify, or guarantee creator content. A template, warning block, workflow, or interface prompt does not confirm that a manual is safe, compliant, or fit for purpose.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use the service to:
- break the law, facilitate harm, or mislead manual viewers;
- publish content you do not have the right to use or that unlawfully exposes personal or confidential information;
- distribute malware, interfere with the service, probe for vulnerabilities without permission, or bypass access controls;
- impersonate another person or organisation or misrepresent a product's origin, approval, or safety status; or
- use the service in a way that creates unreasonable load or prevents others from using it.
We may remove content or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, investigate a security concern, or enforce these terms.
7. InstructQR intellectual property
InstructQR and its licensors own the service, software, interface, templates, branding, and documentation, excluding creator content and third-party materials. These terms do not transfer those rights to you.
You may use the service only for its intended purpose and may not copy, resell, reverse engineer, or create a competing service from protected parts of InstructQR except where the law expressly allows it.
8. Availability, third parties, and changes
The service depends on third-party infrastructure, including Google, Supabase, and Vercel. We aim to operate InstructQR with reasonable care but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.
We may modify, add, or retire features for security, legal, technical, capacity, or product reasons. Where reasonably practicable, material changes affecting active creators will be communicated in advance.
InstructQR may link to an independent Buy Me a Coffee page for optional contributions. A contribution does not purchase service access or additional features and does not change your account limits. Buy Me a Coffee and its payment processor handle the transaction under their own terms, privacy notice, and refund process.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time. Account deletion and content export processes will be provided as the creator service develops.
We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of serious or repeated misuse, a security risk, a legal requirement, or conduct that risks harm to users or the service. Where appropriate, we will give notice and a reasonable opportunity to correct the issue.
10. Responsibility when things go wrong
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Subject to those protections, InstructQR is not responsible for losses caused by creator content, unsafe or inaccurate instructions, products or services supplied by a creator, misuse of a manual, or events outside our reasonable control.
Any limitation or exclusion in these terms applies only to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms affects mandatory rights available to consumers.
11. General terms
If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the remaining terms will continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a term does not waive it. You may not transfer your account or agreement without our consent; we may transfer the service agreement as part of a genuine reorganisation or sale, provided your rights are not reduced.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Business users agree that the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Consumers retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring claims in the courts available under applicable consumer law.
We may update these terms to reflect service, legal, or security changes. Material changes affecting account holders will be brought to their attention before taking effect where reasonably practicable.
